Finnish-engineered heat, built for real home saunas
The Harvia Vega BC60 is a 6kW electric sauna heater designed for home saunas and small wellness spaces between 5–8 m³. It's part of Harvia's Vega line, a compact, wall-mounted heater built in Finland by one of the world's longest-standing sauna heater manufacturers, with a design history that traces back to 1950.
If you've researched sauna heaters before, you know the two things that actually matter: even heat distribution and a control system you won't fight with. The Vega BC60 is built around both.
Key specifications
- Power output: 6.0 kW
- Voltage: 220–240V, single phase
- Recommended room size: 5–8 m³
- Housing: Stainless steel outer shell, corrosion-resistant and built for long-term humidity exposure
- Stone capacity: Open stone basket, up to 20 kg of sauna stones
- Control: Built-in control panel with timer and thermostat, mounted ergonomically at the top of the unit
- Mounting: Symmetric design allows low wall mounting with controls on either side
- Stones sold separately
Note: heavy item shipping rates apply for this item
Why the design works
Most budget sauna heaters mount high on the wall, which leaves cold pockets near the floor and lower benches. The Vega's symmetric housing lets it mount lower without sacrificing access to the controls, so heat reaches lower benches instead of just the ceiling. Combined with the open stone basket, this creates the steady, even warm-up that's typical of a well-built Finnish heater: no scorching hot spots, no cold zones.
The built-in timer and thermostat mean the BC60 doesn't require a separate control unit (unlike the BC60E variant, which is designed for use with an external controller such as Harvia's C-Series or Xenio). For most home installations, that built-in control is the simpler, more cost-effective choice.
Installation notes
This is a hardwired appliance, not a plug-and-play unit. It requires:
- A dedicated electrical circuit sized for 6kW
- Installation by a licensed/qualified electrician
- Appropriate circuit protection (RCD/MCB) per local electrical code
- Correct safety clearances from walls, benches, and combustible materials, per the Harvia installation manual
Attempting a DIY install without an electrician isn't just a warranty risk; it's a fire and shock hazard. Always follow the manufacturer's installation manual and local electrical codes.
Who it's for
- Homeowners building or upgrading a private sauna in the 5–8 m³ range
Apartment or villa wellness rooms where a low-profile, wall-mounted unit matters - Anyone replacing an older heater who wants integrated controls instead of a separate panel
Care & maintenance
- Use uncoated sauna stones sized appropriately for the basket (avoid soft or crumbly stones that break down with heat cycling)
- Restack stones loosely to preserve airflow; packed stones reduce heat transfer and shorten element life
- Inspect and replace stones roughly once a year with regular use, more often with heavy use
- Wipe the stainless shell with a damp cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners that can dull the finish
